„Scoala Gimnaziala nr 1 Cernica” is a public school located in Cernica, 12 km from Bucharest. We have 433 students (3-14 years old), 28 teachers and 4 auxiliary teachers, 3 administrative staff. We have 10 classrooms, a science lab, a computer lab, a library, a counseling center, and a gym. The school is eTwinning School. School staff participate in eTwinning professional development events.
The curricular areas are: mathematics and science, communication, technological education, physical education, counseling and guidance, man and society. Other activities: trips, competitions, cultural and scientific activities. School has an inclusive educational policy, so the 14 pupils with special needs learn together with the other students. We have found among our students a lack of sensitivity to those with special needs and I decided to address the topic in some counseling activities. As a result, children have a low degree of empathy and sensitivity not only to the problems of people, but also to the problems of the surrounding human, social and environmental world. As a result, activities aimed at increasing the sensitivity of children to these problems were organized. We initiated the project „Donated Fruit and Vegetables”, in which children donate to elderly people and people in difficulty vegetables and fruits. We also organize an annual donation of clothes for children with poor financial condition. I have carried out cleaning activities in the Cernica forest that is part of the Natura 2000 site. We have organized visits to the elderly. The development of these activities has increased the sensitivity and empathy of children, but they still have difficulties in recognizing and establishing actions to solve these problems, which has led us to participate in this project in which we come with our own experience in charity and environmental protection, but especially with experience in eTwinning projects. By participating in this project we will benefit from the experience of the partners,
we will get acquainted with the approaches from different education systems, we will find solutions for the common problems Students will have a realistic view of all the problems of the contemporary world, become more sensitive and empathetic to their colleagues, to social and environmental issues, will accept and support their peers with special needs, ensuring their inclusion, become active citizens . By developing the European dimension of the school, the local community will have more confidence in the school and will support its actions to solve the problems of the current world.
Special issue of the school magazine, entirely dedicated to the Erasmus+ project „Active kids for a better future” The magazine will continue to appear annually, reflecting the activities of the school, students and teachers.
