Our school is located in Kozani in northwestern Greece about 100 kilometers west of Thessaloniki the second largest city of Greece. The 12th Primary School of Kozani is situated in a picturesque neighbourhood next to the Municipal Park, the Municipal Library and the Music Conservatory. The area of Kozani is well-known for its Electric Power Plants ,since 70% of the country’s energy is produced in the area. Furthermore a lot of people are engaged in the agricultural sector growing the well-known saffron and other aromatic plants. Our students come from middle-class background.
Parents have excellent communication and collaboration with teachers and school management. Our school also integrates students with special needs and migrants offering them an appropriate approach. There are 68 students at our school. There are 8 classrooms , 2 Teachers’ Offices, a Computer Lab, a Science Lab,a gym ,an Assembly Hall , a school canteen, a large playground and a well-equipped Library which is part of the National System of School Libraries. We are 17 experienced and highly-motivated teachers and we all work in good cooperation with each other and are concerned about our students’ progress and the evolution of our school community in line with modern social developments. Our school is involved in numerous projects on national level such as Environmental projects ,Cultural projects, Health & Nutrition projects as well as in eTwinning projects with successful collaborations with schools across Europe and the wider region. For four years our school has been participating in a project on national level called “Noiazomai kai dro” concerning Volunteerism, Solidarity and Active Citizenship with many actions and activities that have been imprinted on the central organization of the program but mainly on the change of attitudes of pupils and teachers towards the needs of our society and on how to act to improve conditions in order to change the world in a better way. Our school also participates in national Maths and Reading contests and local sports competitions. We are always present in all actions organised by our Municipality and the relevant institutions of our wider region for the protection and care of our environment. Our goal is to educate honest students with a strong character, with love for their fellow human beings and actions based on universal human values. We want our students to create through research, to work together to co-create and to respect all the creations around. All members of staff as a team will be involved in managing and applying the project in all areas since we have got a lot of practical and useful experience from the previous school projects.
